Personal Vision, Part II — Gary T. Erbe, widely collected artist and independent curator, selected Incognito Witch Project 6-G by Mollie Kellogg of California to begin June, saying he liked the “attitude” of this piece, and also the rabbit. He admired 4 pm by Christopher Smith of Pennsylvania for the liveliness of the poses. He also mentioned that the red color was a nice touch. Model by Robert Nizamov of Moscow (Russia) intrigued him. Erbe studied it closely and then decided he liked the unusual composition. Rounding up the Curators' Choice nominees, is Sueños Azules by Tony Lee of Panama.
In contrast to the May calendar, June is frenetic, with legs and arms going every which way in lively abandon and humor, such as Vivid Colors of Emotion (Metamorphsis) by Cindy Sibilsky, Audacious by Szn Kraft, What am I doing here? by Chanit Roston, The Other Woman by Mark Behme and The People's Gift by Kasper Holten. In June the calming influences are fewer, but welcome as Sarah in Red by Jean Marcellino anchoring the important first Sunday of the month and Home by Malorie Shannon, bringing June to a satisfying close.
Overall, Erbe said he was “pleasantly surprised.” He noted the great diversity of the artworks and thought that the artists were being “very creative” in showing this classical genre in new and original ways displaying great breadth of vision on the part of all of the participating artists.
